I just setup a softphone account and have a few issues that I could use some help with. First, the Communicator softphone, which sets up easily and seems fairly stable so far, lacks simple Windows keyboard shortcuts for most functions. My hope for your service was to eliminate one of my landlines which we dial via modem from an excel spreadsheet using some embedded VB and TAPI. The lack of keyboard shortcuts in Communicator made this simple integration almost impossible. I downloaded the X-lite softphone, and was able to quickly adapt it to my dialer spreadsheet, but could not get it to link to your service. A phone call to your tech support, (who sent me here) and some reading on your boards, let me know that my softphone only account could only be used with your dedicated softphone. Solution "A" seemed to be upgrading to whatever type of account I need in order to use a third party softphone, but from what I can tell an "upgrade" in voip.com terms is adding an additional account (hopefully I'm wrong on this, cuz I'd be happy to pay an extra 5 bucks a month to get this working). Or "B" talk you good folks into adding some keyboard shortcuts to your Communicator softphone, make the source available, or at the very least set the focus to entering in a phone number on the dial tab when the program opens instead focusing on the search portion of the contacts tab.

Looking forward to a response, thanks for listening.

Hello,

Two days ago all the audio for my soft phone stopped working one phone call after I received an email from you stating:

"International calling (action needed) ... we require that our Softphone service accounts pre-pay for international usage."

I am overseas on vacation and have been making calls to US numbers with my VOIP soft phone that has a US number.

I have not made nor intend to make any calls to any international numbers on my soft phone. I am ok with a block on my account against dialing any non-US numbers.

Under these circumstances, is it necassary for me to purchase a credit balance with you before I may use my soft phone again?

I have had this service with you for several years and never had any issues before.

Thanks

Those good, old days when creating an iPhone ringtone was as easy as renaming a song in your iTunes library to a ".m4r" extension and then syncing it back with your iPhone will never come back with the release of iTunes 8 – which brought with it Genius Playlists.
Keep in mind that iTunes will allow you to create a ringtone from a song downloaded through the iTunes Music Store, but those ringtones come with fees. No one likes fees. Follow this guide, creating iPhone ringtones for free with iTunes comes back again. To create simple, free iPhone ringtones from your iTunes library, the following step-by-step guide will help you out:
Note: * This process works with MP3, ACC, and AIFF files. * Only DRM-free songs can be used with this ringtone creation process. * Any song downloaded from iTunes Music Store will have DRM (Digital Rights Management), so don't use those songs. * Any song ripped from a CD or downloaded from DRM-free sources (P2P, Amazon, your friend) will work just fine. If you want use DRM protection resource, you should first remove DRM protection from iTunes.

Step 1.
Launch iTunes.

Step 2.
Find the song you'd like to turn in to a ringtone.

Step 3.
Right click on the song and select "Get Info".

  Step 4.
Hit the "Options" tab and check both the "Start Time" and "End Time" boxes.

Step 5.
Specify what time interval you'd like to use as your ringtone clip , then click "OK"(Make sure your ringtone is 30 seconds or less!!).

  Step 6.
Click on "Advanced" in your menu bar and select "Create AAC Version" or "Create Apple Lossless Version" (Make sure your iTunes "Import Settings" are set to "AAC" or "Apple Lossless" and not "MP3").

  Step 7.
A duplicate copy of your song will appear in iTunes – this new song will have the same filename but shorter "Time". Go back to the original song and uncheck those "Start Time" and "End Time" boxes.

Step 8.
Drag the duplicate song to your Desktop, once the duplicate song is copied to your Desktop, delete the duplicate file in iTunes.

Step 9.
On your Desktop, rename the file with the ".m4r" file extension – Use the new extension, this turns your song file into an iPhone ringtone file.

Now be named "songname.m4r".

  Step 10.
Drag the newly renamed .m4r (songname.m4r) file back into iTunes.

Step 11.
Drag the file over the "Library" column and release when "Library" becomes highlighted. (You have to delete the duplicate song file otherwise iTunes won't import your new .m4r file ).

Step 12.
You should see your new ringtone under "Ringtones" in iTunes.

Step 13.
Sync your iPhone to get jiggy with your new free iPhone ringtones!

Account # 81925

For several weeks now, I've been noticing occasional failure of my phones to ring; sometimes they did... sometimes they didn't.

Within the last few days, I've finally isolated it to those occasions when my VOIP.COM softphone is running and logged into your system. As soon as I "Quit" the softphone application, my regular phones will ring when called. As soon as I start the softphone application again, the home phones fail to ring when called. I have checked this repeatedly over the course of the last week just to be certain, using my cellphone to test.

In summary, when the VOIP.COM softphone (Communicator v1.64) is running and logged into the VOIP.COM system, the softphone application on my PC will ring, but not my standard home phones. As soon as I kill the softphone application again, I can place another call from cellphone to homephone and VOILA! My phones start ringing!!!

Based on the number of posts I see regarding this issue, I have to assume you are aware of the problem. What I'm not sure you are aware of -- though you probably are -- is that having the softphone app up and running seems to clearly be the determining factor in whether or not the home phones will ring.

As you can imagine, this is a real nuisance, and I will be delighted when it gets resolved.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
